While the channel has now lost its sheen, one still yearns for Tamas or Byomkesh Bakshi. Even epics like Ramayana and Mahabharat were shown in 79 and 94 episodes. Shows on DD had an edge over run-of-the-mill stuff as almost all shows had a start and end date in those good old days. With the mushrooming of channels viewers now have the world of options but one still misses the substance. The channel aired selective yet meaningful content. There was a time when everyone was hooked onto good, old DD. The debate is it an end to soaps running for years celebrating kitchen politics? Amitabh Bachchan's much talked about debut in a fictional show on TV, Yudh, is coming with an expiry date. While Anil Kapoor's 24 got tremendous response for its first outing on Indian telly, finite show series on Zindagi are being lapped up by viewers too.
